This is an introductory workshop that will focus egg tempera materials and technique. Figs will be the subject. The objective will be to impart the instructor’s technique so students can explore the medium on their own. We will not be looking for a finished painting, but will use the time to practice and understand the technique. The class will include demonstrations, such as making the binder, mixing it with dried pigment, and painting the figs. We will explore concepts such as scumbling, glazing, and using both opacity and transparency. Painting the background and brushstroke techniques will also be addressed. A pre-recorded video will be available before the start of the workshop to help familiarize the students with egg tempera. This workshop will take place live on Zoom. Individual help will be offered to students throughout the workshop. Some painting experience is helpful.
