Gouache can be used to create rich, matte effects for botanical painting. Watercolor can produce luminous effects. This workshop will allow the student to choose which medium to use for this subject. There will be live demonstrations on mixing paint, applying washes, and gradually transitioning into using less water. Dry brush is the technique the Instructor uses for both watercolor and gouache, so the demonstrations are applicable for both mediums. We will discuss the similarities and differences between watercolor and gouache. A line drawing and photo of the magnolia leaf will be sent to participants before the start of the workshop, along with color suggestions. This workshop will take place live on Zoom and the students will send their work in progress throughout both days to the Instructor via text. Individual help will be offered throughout the workshop. Some experience using watercolor is recommended. Please be advised that this class will be recorded for the purpose of allowing students and interested parties to access the content after the class is finished.
